One of my blog readers epxressed interest in seeing Spurl.net compared against other bookmarking services in my overview.
It usually takes a while for me to get to know all ins and outs. However here is my quick impression.
Spurl.net is rather similar to Furl.net in functionality - it also saves cached copies of pages. However it has some nice features that others do not. For example Spurl.net may give you quick statistical overview of your library and may report broken links. It also attaches small web page thumbnails - for people that tend to remember visual impressions, rather than abstract text. Another feature is 18+ filter - useless for me, so go figure out yourself what it does :).
"Random spurl" is a funny feature that displays random page marked by someone else. That reminded me of Russian search engine Yandex. They have a funny page called "Meditative Yandex" with just one button titled "Search!". The result of this search is a page with search results form some random recent query. It is hardly meditative though - roghly one third of the results was abour some kind of pr0n. "Random spurl" does not spit pr0n though. Its results tend to be rather business-oriented, so I am wondering if this is some kind of hidden advertising.
I've seen so many bookmarking services and started to think that two things would be useful. First: some kind of common frontend to post to all of them (you know, to keep eggs in different baskets). Second: full export/import feature that would allow to migrate/merge data between them.
